Biliary atresia 胆管閉鎖

Published on July 21, 2011
My nephew has biliary atresia. He was born with this liver condition which involves the bile ducts leading from the liver into the gall bladder.  As the bile does not drain properly from the liver, the liver cannot properly get rid of wastes. In addition to this, the salts present in the bile cannot be properly delivered to the small intestine where they help to digest fats. One of the outcomes of this condition is cirrhosis of the liver and the need for a liver transplant. He is such a lovely boy, and we pray for a solution to this tough challenge.
